What forms of cyberattacks are there?

What types of cyberattacks are there? Hackers use various methods to make companies and individuals their victims, read more!

In this blog we cover a few cyberattacks that pose a danger to your company. The various forms of cyberattacks are one of the many reasons to do more about cybersecurity. The consequences these hacks bring are often overwhelming. Below we've explained four forms in more detail:

Phishing (most common cyberattack)

The first cyberattack we cover is called phishing. Phishing is one of the most commonly used cyberattacks. Through this method, attackers try to gain access to personal information such as login or credit card details. In many cases, a hacker poses as an authorized authority, such as your bank. Phishing is mainly carried out through emails, messages, and phone calls.

Ransomware

The next type of cyberattack is ransomware. In a ransomware attack, the user is forced to have all their data and information removed from their system. A timer is often attached to this to increase the (time) pressure. By encrypting important documents and creating time pressure, hackers try to get you to pay a ransom.

Despite this, there is no guarantee that paying the ransom will result in the files becoming accessible again. If you want to read more about ransomware, you can check out our blog: What is Ransomware?

SQL injection

An SQL injection is the newest type of cyberattack launched by hackers. During an SQL injection, cybercriminals ''inject'' malicious code into your SQL database. It is a very dangerous form of cyberattack that can lead to loss of data, identity theft, or even loss of control over your system.

There's also an extensive blog available about SQL injection.

DDoS attack

DDoS attack stands for Distributed Denial of Service. During a DDoS attack, false requests are made to a computer (network) or site to overload it with traffic, causing it to crash. Consequences of a DDoS attack include, for example, a website going offline or an operating system no longer functioning. What are the consequences if your most important system goes down? You can read more about this in our blog about the financial consequences of a hack...
